Personal Description: I am a qualified primary teacher and taught for 6 years as a class teacher in the state and then private sector. Previously, I worked in engineering as a technical author.

I am married, we have a teenage son and live at a boarding school where I work part-time as a houseparent nurturing children aged 11-18.

Tutoring Experience: Until July 2010 I was Head of Maths, ICT and Gifted & Talented at a prep school. I have successfully prepared children for KS2 SATS and Entrance Exams.

Before I re-qualified I worked as a Teaching Assistant with children with special needs and tutored adults in basic skills.

I have worked with year 2 to year 6 children in a primary school setting as well as tutoring maths GCSE and adults.

Tutoring Approach: I have been successfully tutoring for a full year, mainly by personal recommendation, but also through First Tutors.

I am a hard-working, caring and enthusiastic teacher, well able to adapt to a wide range of children and situations.

Some children have been with me for a few months, as they have just needed a quick boost, I have helped fill in their missing concepts and encouraged them.

For others, tutoring is a longer term solution and I will continue to work in conjunction with their parents and school to enhance their learning.
