Personal Description: I am a 21 year old male student studying Economics at Reading University. I took a gap year where I worked in a jewellers where the main skills required were communicating with customers and managerial responsibilities. I am also a member of the JCR at my university.

Tutoring Experience: I worked with two year 7 students when I was sitting my A-levels. The students came to the school with acute difficulty in reading. After completing my A-levels, one student had progressed to a mid-set English class and the other was in a higher set - they both started in the lowest two sets when they arrived.

Tutoring Approach: I find that it is important to find how a student works at their best. Students are not the same and therefore to use the same approach for every student would not be effective. Instead, I will work with them to decipher their way of learning, whether it is talking through a question in a text based scenario or using a more visual approach. I will also find out where the difficulties lie with the student, as they may be very competent in one area but lacking in another. It is also extremely important to go at their pace, each student needs to be pushed but it would be counter-productive to push them too hard.
