Personal Description: I received my Physics degree in 2005 after studying at Aberdeen University. For the last 5 years, I have worked as a Nuclear Physicist / Engineer at Sellafield in west Cumbria and have enjoyed applying the things I learned at university to the challenges I am faced with in my working environment. Outside of work, I enjoy keeping fit at the gym, going on long cycles, reading and listening to Elvis.

Tutoring Experience: During my third and fourth years at university, I was responsible for the first and second year's practical class work. This would include lecturing to introduce the course content, mentoring support during the lab classes, marking of any exam work and feedback to the students regarding their performance. During my career as a Physicist, I have often had the chance to introduce and discuss subjects which are unfamiliar and new to the graduate recruits that we take on. I have always found teaching and tutoring to be a very pleasurable and rewarding experience.

Tutoring Approach: My philosophy is that there are no silly questions and no question asked will ever go unanswered. My aim is to be a positive role model for the student, to encourage and empathize when necessary. I will listen to the student and try to understand how best they learn and adapt my tutoring style as required.
