Personal Description: I am currently a part-time secondary school teacher based near Elgin. I am married with two young children and have recently moved to Elgin. I have just acquired one free day each week in my timetable (Wednesday) and would like to fill it with tutoring. Holidays will be problematic because I look after my children.
I have developed a love for Classics since entering teaching and am keen to broaden my own knowledge in the subject as well as to pass on my enthusiasm for the subject.

Tutoring Experience: I have taught briefly in a primary school but have qualified to teach in secondary schools. I am using the English system of GCSEs and A Levels. I have taught boys and girls having qualified 6 years ago. I have taught Latin to all ages from 11 to 18 and Classical Civilisation to ages 14 to 18, although at the moment I am teaching this to only A Level students.
I am familiar with OCR and AQA exam boards and have some experience in teaching coursework. I have achieved excellent results with some students achieving 100% in the modules I have taught.

Tutoring Approach: I have not tutored before but I will aim to fit in as much as possible around the needs of the tutee. I believe that tutoring should be educational first and fun second. I think that people learn much more quickly if the material is taught in an interesting and relevant way. I am very used to using a wide range of resources such as ancient literature, maps, text books and of course the internet.

Qualifications:

• 2:1 BA Honours degree in Classics from University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
• A Level Latin (A)
• A Level Greek (A)
