Information About Joanna

Personal Description: I am an experience primary school teacher with a 15 year old son. I have a number of interests including music and crafts.

Tutoring Experience: I have been teaching for 18 years in a variety of primary schools. I have taught children throughout this range and my classes have included children with special educational needs, those who are gifted and talented and those who are working wtihin the expected level. I have also tutored children from 5 to 16 in primary subjects, mathematics up to GCSE and science at KS3. I have taught paino up to grade 5 from beginner to children of all ages.

Tutoring Approach: I believe in finding out what the tutee can do and using this to build a program that will enable to achieve the level they wish. I aim to build confidence and do not focus on failure. I plan each session carefully building on previous sessions and knowledge and understanding of area.

Qualifications:
  • BA Hons QTS in music and education,
  • GCE 'A' Levels in Physics and History.
  • GCE 'O' levels in a vareity of subjects incl English, maths and physics.

From Lisa (3/5): (Primary Maths) Joanna is nice and welcoming, we have only been three times, have just finished the first assessment stage which lasted 2 sessions (english & maths) and have started on basic maths/english. All paperwork was available for viewing on our first visit, she has a full CRB check and had no problem showing them; Joanna allows me to sit and wait in her home until she finishes teaching. Until my daughter has been going for a little bit longer however, it is difficult for me to comment on Joannas teaching techniques etc.

From Emma (5/5): (Primary English) Very easy to arrange - Sam is comfortable with Ms and has enjoyed the sessions so far.

From Patricia (5/5): (Primary Maths) Joanna is very friendly and my son enjoys his lessons which are 'action packed. Joanne tutors once a week in maths and this is building his confidence and enjoyment of the subject. I would recommend Joanna as a tutor.

From Carole (5/5): (GCSE Maths) We feel that Jessica is making real progress even with this very small amount of maths tuition. We will probably wish to continue this tuition until she feels confident with the syllabus.
