Personal Description: Having graduated in English Language and Literature from Oxford University I subsequently studied law with the College of Law, coming third in my year on the Common Professional Exam and gaining a distinction in the Legal Practice Course. I qualified and worked as a city solicitor before training as a teacher.

Tutoring Experience: I have a Master's degree in Education from Durham University and have worked in both private and state schools teaching up to A Level. I have worked as a GCSE examiner in both English and English Literature, for which I have been consistently graded as an A grade examiner. I also have taught English as foreign language in two French secondary schools using French as the language of instruction. I currently am home educating my own three children at primary level.

Tutoring Approach: I believe that the key to effective tuition is to tailor the teaching to the pupil and not the other way around. I firrmly believe that all pupils can succeed given the appropriate level of motivation and instruction. Prior to the first lesson I would ask tutees to provide examples of their current work and to give me an idea of their aims, such as a minimum target grade in a forthcoming exam. I would then provide a course of tuition designed to meet the individual's needs using his or her interests to stimulate further development.

• English Language and Literature BA and MA (Oxford University); CPE and LPC in law (College of Law); MA with Qualified Teacher Status (Durham).
• A level grade A English Literature, French and History. S Level English Literature and French. AS Level German grade A.
• GCSE's 6 grade A; 4 grade B.
