Personal Description: About me
I grad­u­ated with a 2:1 (Hons) in Music Per­for­mance as a fel­low of the Robert Nicol Trust, the Sid­ney Perry Trust, the Stan­ley Picker Trust, The Cross Trust, the JTH Char­i­ta­ble Trust, the Miss Mar­garet Gray’s Trust, The McGlashan Char­i­ta­ble Trust and Sorop­tomists International.

Dur­ing my stud­ies I was invited to take part in mas­ter­classes by inter­na­tion­ally recog­nised artists: Kate Hughes, Jeremy Huw Williams and Irene Drum­mond and taken part in broad­casts for BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and Radio Scotland.

In addi­tion to my stud­ies I gained ABRSM Grade 8 Singing with Dis­tinc­tion and a cer­tifi­cate of Enhanced Disclosure.

I have just started my own com­pany in Octo­ber 2009. JCN Arts & Events is based in Aberdeen spe­cial­is­ing in vocal tuition, events man­age­ment and com­mu­nity music. Clients include Feugh Fest music fes­ti­val, Aberdeen Inter­na­tional Youth Fes­ti­val, The Tun­nels and Cafe Drummond.

For the last four years I have sung and played alto sax­o­phone with bands Aka-ska, Groove Cruise and Beat Street singing ska, reg­gae, soul and funk. I am also in an impro­vised music group called Sum­isumi. I have played all over Scot­land in fan­tas­tic live venues such as Café Dru­monds, The Tun­nels, The Dog­house and the Wick­er­man music festival.

Tutoring Experience: I have six years teaching experience as a private tutor and also as a community musician teaching in groups.

Tutoring Approach: Based on the Alexander Technique which incorporates effective body management into singing technique.

• ABRSM Grade 8 Singing pass with Distinction
