Personal Description: I hold a First Class Honours. Bachelor's Degree with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
Before I became a Primary School Teacher, I taught piano, organ, and music theory, both privately and within the Yamaha Music Schools.
I have a good sense of humour that appeals to children and helps to build good relationships with them.
Tutoring Experience: Since I qualified as a primary teacher, in 2000, I have taught all years, from Nursery to Year-Six.
I have considerable experience levelling and tracking pupil's progress, throughout the primary age-range, according to national standards.
I keep up to date with the latest incentives and trends in teaching. I am fully conversant with the New Primary Framework for English and Maths and modern approaches to delivery of the National Curriculum.
I have taken a particular interest in children with special needs. I have spent time within special schools, supporting children with moderate to severe learning difficulties, and autism.
Tutoring Approach: I use the same leveling and target-based assessments as schools, to move children on in appropriate learning steps. I share these fully with parents/carers so that they can see the progress being made.
I use techniques that relate to school based work in order to boost children's confidence in school.
Above all, being initially Early-Years trained, I teach in a fun, practical way that enthuses children to learn.
