I'm Gemma and I'm 17 years old. I am just about to start work as the Sabbatical Student Union President at Exeter College and I enjoy teaching and learning. I have specifically chosen to only offer primary years tuition because this is where I feel my real strengths are. I'm also a good choice for younger children, as I am quite young myself, and therefore much more approachable.
After my gap year I plan to move on to a strong university in order to study Psychology and pursue a career in research.
Tutoring Experience: My experience of teaching is my work experience during my school years as a teaching assistant and teaching my younger relatives. However, my recent learning experience allows me to be completely in touch with the modern student experience, and able to connect with students of various ages.
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring could be described as somewhat different to that of others; I remember what it felt like to not understand something. I am a strong believer in patience and perseverance and hope to enable my student to feel a sense of pride and achievement in their learning.
I also believe in having a consultation with the parent(s) and student before the initial teaching sessions in order to determine the best learning skill, and to break the ice.
