Information About Frances

Personal Description: I graduated with a Masters in International Relations from the University of St Andrews in June 2010 and am currently studying for a Masters in Intelligence & International Security at King's College London. I have worked in a variety of political roles including the 2008 Presidential campaigns in America and as an assistant to the Governor of Maryland during my year abroad. I am fascinated by all things political and historical and relish the opportunity to pass on my enthusiasm and knowledge to others. I am a meticulous, patient and hard-working individual and I strive to bring out the best in my students.

Tutoring Experience: I have tutored a number of students in history and politics courses. I have also been an active member of holiday clubs and after-school groups which have encouraged young people to discover new interests and enhance their knowledge.

Tutoring Approach: I believe that one-to-one tuition is the most effective way to encourage students and allow them to flourish in their academic lives. Having been part of small classes at school and university, I absolutely believe in the value of personal tuition, as individuals learn in different ways and respond better to a more tailored learning programme. My aim is to create an environment where students can achieve their potential and foster a relationship where students feel at ease asking questions and suggesting alternative answers. Furthermore, through tuition sessions, I would hope to provide reassurance during times of stress and pressure.

All students require feedback on their work and ideas and I strive to provide clear and concise feedback to allow for more effective learning. Similarly, exam preparation and practice questions comprise a significant portion of pre-examination study, and I am happy to compose and mark practice essays and papers, for all ages and levels of difficulty.
