I love my subject, Biology and enjoy teaching. My daughters have grown up and now I find that I have more time for my own interests. I am sociable and positive.
I have taught Biology in a range of schools for almost 40 years. This includes independent, grammar and comprehensive, single sex and co-ed. Now retired, my last post was working at Northwood College, a girls independent school. Previously I worked at St Edward's, Oxford and in local grammar schools. I have been an examiner of A level Biology for about 15 years. I work for Buckingham University as a verifyer for their teacher training course.
Tutees that I have worked with seem to find my methods effective.
Initially I identify areas of difficulty and break these down into manageable amounts. I have a large bank of past paper questions that can be used for practise. I develop learning strategies so that with time the tutee becomes more confident and learns to cope by themselves.
During this Corona period I taught online using Skype which has the advantage of the student not having to travel. I am now working from the office in my home, face to face as previously.
