Personal Description: I am a 28 year old Geography Teacher . I have recently had a baby and I am currently on maternity leave. I love my subject and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with the pupils/tutees I teach. I naturally love to travel, sample exotic cultures and partake in outdoor activities such as hiking here in Scotland.
Tutoring Experience: I have taught Geography & Modern Studies for the last 2/3 years. Main positions have been in St Mungo's High School, Falkirk and Bishopbriggs Academy. Previous to this I successfully completed my teaching probation in Douglas Academy, Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire. I have had various placements throughout my training in St Andrews High School, Coatbridge and Cumbernauld High School. I am confident in teaching Geography at all levels and Modern Studies/Sociology S1-S3.
Tutoring Approach: I like to create a relaxed learning environment where tutees are firstly comfortable and ready to learn. I have an open approach to discussions and questioning, using these to gauge understanding and appropriate assessment. I closely follow SQA success guides and arrangement documents, I also recommend co-operative work on past papers to boost confidence and familiarity with exam style questions and answers. I also like to make ensure tutees are interested and thus motivated through the use of various teaching methods and a range of quality, eyecatching resources compiled by myself .
