I’m currently a curriculum manager of applied science at the city and Islington college, I have been tutoring for 5 years with outstanding results. One of the student has proceed to Cardiff to study neuroscience.
My standard of teaching is a reflection of my passion for education. I am a firm believer that education should be an enjoyable experience and therefore will tailor each tutoring session to motivate the learner’s curiosity and promote interest in the subject. Each lesson will be adapted to enthuse the learner and deepen their knowledge and understanding. Through my teaching experience and devotion to my students has allowed me to develop innovative lesson plans, to ensure each student will excel in the science and promote their interest in the scientific understanding.
Currently teaching and managing GCSE Chemistry, Biology and Physics and Maths
AQA A Level Biology and Chemistry
Degree Level in Molecule Biology and Genetics
I have now tutored 4 amazing learners, one achieved A* in A level Biology and is currently studying neuroscience. The other was a GCSE learner who went from predicted 4s to 7/8 in all three sciences.
Science is surrounded with abstract concepts which can make it difficult for students to grasp and comprehend, therefore through my teaching I promote the use analogies to help make this information tangible. Adapting this approach is key to fulfill each individual learners needs, for example showing Glycolysis through re-enactment or using superheroes to explain the adaptive immune response. Throughout my lesson I will promote the understanding of the fundamentals within science, however I find it most important to be able to apply this knowledge, especially with exams or course work and will work with the students to be able to develop this key skill in science. Assessments will be made subtly throughout each lesson, along with assessment material and sample papers being provided.
