Information About Claire

Personal Description: I am a fully qualified Primary School Teacher who has just finished teaching at Ranskill Primary School (Notts) to set up my own private tuition business.
I have an 8 year old son, am Catholic, live in Doncaster-on Woodfield Plantation and more importantly love children!

Tutoring Experience: -I have been teaching for 16 years and have taught all age groups-hence having a detailed knowledge of the National curriculum and the constant updates!!
-I have privately tutored 11/12 children ranging from age 5 to 11 over the last 9 years, and currently have 6 children on my books. There are testimonials on here from the parents of children who have contacted me via this website-many are past pupils though.
-I have completed a counselling course and was recently involved in the setting up of a nurture group within a school, in which teachers work on raising the self-esteem of children.
-I am CRB checked for Nottinghamshire, where I worked, and also Doncaster, where I assist occasionally with Cub Scouts.

Tutoring Approach: -Willingness to focus on particular subjects or identified areas of weakness (or strength), and can liaise with school/class teacher regarding your child's particular needs (this can also be self-esteem/anger management issues)
-I use a range of approaches in teaching your child-depending on their needs/personality and learning style
-Access to past SATS papers for both Year 2 and Year 6 and optional SATS papers for other years
-Flexible in terms of :
where tuition takes place- can be at your home* or mine (Woodfield Plantation)
length of sessions- anything from 30-90mins
frequency of tuition- weekly, or shorter intensive courses during school holidays

* there may be a travel surcharge for long distances

Please don't hesitate to contact me (with absolutely no obligation)

From Andrea (5/5): (Primary Maths) My daughter Sophie has now had 5 lessons and I am extremely pleased with how she is getting on. We both find Claire very friendly and easy to get on with. I also find her versatile and flexible with times and dates which is very helpful. Claire also liases with Sophies teacher which is really good. Sophie looks forward to her next lesson and I would thoroughly recomment Claire to anyone.

From Alison (5/5): (Primary English) Claire has had a very positive impact on our son. Her teaching methods are very good and we have seen an improvement in the short time that Claire had been with him. Claire is very enthusiastic and bubbly. Claire is very committed in what she does. We will recommend her to our friends.

From Banu (4/5): (Primary Maths) Enthusistic, gets information from school teacher, flexible, only my son who just turned 7 wasn't ready for tuitions, will contact her when he is ready.

From Alison (5/5): (Primary English) Claire is working wonders with Jonathan who can be a very difficult child at times due to medical conditions. Claire in a few short weeks has got Jonathan wanting to go every week instead of a battle getting him to leave the house. Jonathan is enjoys the lesson and chats all the home in car (35mins) about the activites claire has done that night, especially if Jonathan has won a educational game they have been playing. Claire never gives up when jonathan is reclutant to co operate in the begining i.e letter writing, Jonathan will do it quickly and not form letters properly thinking Claire will be happy that he has done it quickly and they can play a game but Jonathan is now aware they will keep doing it until he gets it right or until he has shown he has really tried if something is more tricky. When we first met Claire she took the time before charging me for a lesson to ask what my concerns were and how I thought she could help, Claire then contacted Jonathan school (with my permission) and spoke to Jonathan teacher to see what she though Jonathan needed extra help on. I can honestly say claire is really helping Jonathan and , it is more than income she really does care!
