Personal Description: I am a qualified primary teacher, and I have three young children. I currently teach part time, working within several different age groups. I tutor several children in evenings/weekends.

Tutoring Experience: I have taught in several different schools over a period of 9 years, I have taught all age groups from Reception to Year 6 and I am very familiar with the the standards expected for each age group. I been tutoring for five years and I teach children ranging from five year olds who are struggling with reading to eleven year olds who needed help to get through their SATs. I am also very familiar with the Eleven Plus tests and entrance exams to private schools, having taught several children at this level who then went on to pass the tests.

Tutoring Approach: I approach tutoring a new child in a way which makes them feel at ease. If they are happy to work with me then it makes their learning much easier. I assess their needs and then tailor a programme each week to work towards an agreed target. I also try to make sure that the hour(s) they have with me is a mixture of different kinds of learning approaches in order to keep the child interested. I believe strongly in involving the parents in all aspects of the tutoring process.

• 1994: BA (hons ) Psychology (2:1) - University of Wales (Bachelors)
• 2002: PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) - Manchester Metropolitan University (PGCE)
