Personal Description: An experienced teacher and university tutor, I have a first class degree and PhD in church history. I am CRB cleared, and hold QTS. I am an experienced GCSE examiner.

Tutoring Experience: I currently teach History, Religious Studies (Philosophy and Ethics) and Critical Thinking from Key Stage 3 to A Level. I have additional experience of one to one tuition for English GCSE coursework. My students consistently achieve outstanding examination results at GCSE. My results in Critical Thinking and RS A Level are outstanding, with students achieving grades well above their target grade. As a personal tutor I am experienced in assisting students with preparation for re-sits, helping my tutees achieve excellent results. I am also experienced in careers advice and am able to provide advice on Personal Statements for university applications.

Tutoring Approach: My subject knowledge is wide-ranging and in depth. My emphasis on developing good study skills, encouraging critical thinking and perfecting exam techniques among my pupils is extremely effective. I help tutees develop sound research skills and perfect essay writing skills. In parallel with this approach I use past papers to prepare candidates and set timed questions to hone exam technique.
I am a sympathetic and friendly tutor who understands the importance of building a pupil's confidence and raising their expectations in order to enable them to succeed.

With changes to the way universities recruit being implemented from August 2012 the importance of achieving your UCAS offer first time cannot be stressed enough. If you have been offered AAB or above you MUST achieve this. From summer 2012 there will not be flexibility in the system to accommodate students who just miss out on AAB. If you are concerned about achieving your grades then invest in extra help now.
