Personal Description: I am 28 years old and have taught in a number of primary schools. I am a fully qualified teacher and have experience teaching in Primaries 1, 3. 4, 5, 6 and 7. I work in North Lanarkshire and like all teachers I am currently working to implement the new Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
Tutoring Experience: I am a qualified primary school teacher and have experience in all primary stages. I have a B.Ed (Hons) Degree with a Distinction in Teaching Award, from the University of Strathclyde. I am a Principal Teacher and manage all stages of the new curriculum. I have supported a number of student teachers, as well as currently mentoring a newly qualified teacher.
I participate in Continuous Professional Development activities which have provided me with the opportunity to further develop my skills in providing tailored learning to pupils with additional support needs.
Tutoring Approach: Tutoring or teaching requires different approaches depending on the learning style of the student. I have great experience in teaching children of all primary ages and have developed a number of different strategies to meet their individual learning needs. Generally, I find that children learn best when the work which they are undertaking is meaningful to them and they can relate it to their own lives. For example, when teaching decimals, it is generally best to relate it to money and use concrete materials such as catalogues, coins etc to work out the problem. My approach to tutoring will depend on the child, but generally an active approach where the learner is 'hands on' and not textbook based is my preference. I have supported a number of students who have additional support for learning needs.
Why choose private tuition?
You may choose private tuition for your children to help a child who has temporarily fallen behind to catch up, to provide support to a child with a specific learning difficulty, to provide more challenge for your child or to give closer attention to the needs of your child than is possible in a classroom.
Private tuition can raise both attainment and achievement levels of your child. It can also help to increase their confidence, enjoyment and motivation.
Why choose me?
As a qualified teacher working full time within the primary school, I have the skills and experience to support your child in all areas of the primary curriculum. My teaching strategies are motivational and engage learners. Choosing a class teacher ensures that the skills being taught relate to the outcomes of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
I am a highly motivated teacher with the ability to deliver tuition sessions which match the learning style of your child. I use a range of practical, written and ICT activities to teach and reinforce concepts and strategies.
I am hardworking, committed, honest and reliable.
