Information About Alexandra

Personal Description: I am a qualified teacher with several years experience working as a tutor specialising in mathematics and science.

Having worked in primary, secondary and sixth-form, I have an excellent understanding of the progression required at each stage for students to suceed, and the misconceptions and common weaknesses that tend to hold people back.

Originally following a career in law before changing to teaching, I am also available to give guidance to students on applications to the top law courses in the country as well as having experience helping students improve their UCAS applications to gain places on other competitive degrees.

Tutoring Experience: - Qualified teacher with experience working in primary, secondary and further education establishments.

- Primary: taught full Key Stage 2 curriculum, including English, maths and science.

- Secondary and Sixth Form: specialised in mathematics, biology and chemistry.

- Assessment Associate with EdExcel for A-Level Mathematics and Functional Skills Mathematics.

I have experience working with traditional qualifications such as GCSEs and A-Levels and newer qualifications such as Functional Skills and The Diploma.

Tutoring Approach: Teaching a whole class is fantastic, but tutoring is especially rewarding due to the extra attention that can be spent on the student, resulting in much faster progress than possible in a busy classroom.

The first session will be spent discussing exactly what you would like to achieve from the tutoring sessions, and assessing the current level of understanding and preferred learning styles of the student so that a personalised curriculum can be drawn up. From the second session onwards each hour will focus on a particular topic, with the time divided up into manageable sections depending on the learners age to ensure the best possible learning experience in the time available.

From Fiona (5/5): (GCSE Maths) I found Alexandra excellent. She made my daughter comfortable. She asked lots of questions so she could assess where Jemma was with her maths.

Straight away she was able to show Jemma better methods to use that Jemma could understand. Extremely happy with her.
