Information About Alejandro

Personal Description: I am a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and a Honorary Research Associate at Imperial College London (run a web search for: "Alejandro " and "Imperial College" or "MGH"). I am a Physicist by training and my field of expertise is mathematical modeling of the biological effects produced by radiations of different types. I have always enjoyed teaching, specially in technical subjects such as Math and Physics. Results are guaranteed. IMPORTANT: Due to the fact that from July'09 I have moved to Boston (US) to take my current post at Harvard, I can only teach using web based tools for training such as EVO (web search for: "EVO: A Web-based Conferencing Tool" for more info), where the student will have video and audio from me as well as a white board that I will use to guide each session. The use of this tool is absolutely free for the student and has the advantage that each session can be received at home or any other place at a convenient time.

Tutoring Experience: Numerous years of experience in private teaching.
See references from Alastair and Helen, my last two students who successfully achieved their academical goals.

Tutoring Approach: I base my teaching on the analysis of practical cases. Once I have ensured the theoretical content of the subject has been properly understood and 'digested', I focus in resolving problems from many different angles of an specific topic. This usually helps to widen up the students vision on how the type of problems in question should be approached and solved.

Qualifications:
  • Doctorate (PhD) in Theoretical Physics: Imperial College London
  • MSc (Clinical Sciences): University of Glasgow
  • MPhys in Physics with Medical Technology: The University of Hull
  • MIPEM: professional qualification that allows me to work as a Radiotherapy Physicist

From Michael (5/5): (A-Level Physics) I have very much enjoyed his lessons. He cleared up many parts of the subject (A-level Physics), giving a thorough insight of how to look at problem solving. I asked him to start at square one with trigonometrics, with key principles which was great finally understanding why and how it is used. All lessons where over Skype, as he lives abroad, which was convenient for me as I did not loose any time traveling. Every lesson was well prepared. Now I have also chosen him to clarify A-level maths for me.
He asked me to leave positive and negative Feedback, the only negative I can think of, is possibly the once an hour internet failure across the ocean, but this is more a country's internet infrastructure problem than anything else.
Thank you Alejandro.

Reply from Alejandro: You have been an excellent student and I am delighted you feel it has been useful, specially from the point of view this has been my first online tutoring experience and wasn't quite sure how it was going to work. I am absolutely sure you will be successful in your recent exams and I will be expecting news from you soon on the good results as well as in preparation for your Math A-Levels.
Talk to you soon! Thank you Michael.

From Alastair (5/5): (A-Level Maths) Excellent teacher. Reliable. Highly recommended. Thank you.

From Helen (5/5): (A-Level Physics) Alex is absolutely brilliant! We can`t thank you enough for putting us in touch. He is organised, hardworking and really knows his physics. My Son, Camden was reluctant and unsure about having a Tutor as he is very gifted at physics and didn`t think it would help, however he has found his time with Alex invaluable and really enjoys the sessions.Alex has definetly enabled him to move forward in areas where he had hit a brick wall. I would recomend him to anyone and or be delighted to give him a reference. I`ll let you know if Camden gets his A`s and makes it to Oxford!
