Personal Description: Former chorister at Westminster Abbey, organ scholar at Exeter College, Oxford. Organist, composer, conductor, pianist, accompanist, understanding and patient teacher with high expectations achieved through encouragement and conctructive criticism. Age 48, good sense of humour, enjoy working with motivated pupils, especially those with imagination. Plenty of performing and directing experience, understanding of the difficulties involved.

Tutoring Experience: Previously Assistant Director of Music at a secondary school, teaching piano, organ and theory to grade 8 and beyond, together with composition and music technology to GCSE and A level. Lots of experience in preparing candidates for ABRSM examinations.Examiner for A level composition. Organist and Director of Music at Holy Trinity, Skipton.

Tutoring Approach: Concentrating on good technique at all levels, obtaining accuracy (especially rhythmic) at lower levels (expected automatically for more advanced students) and musicianship and interpretation at higher levels (with considerable discussion; there are countless ways of interpreting music successfully). Expectations of practice and technical work between lessons so that we can concentrate on the finer, more musical aspects during lessons.
