Personal Description: I am a qualified teacher with honours degree in education and music and I love Music! I have taught clarinet to grade 8 standard. I have taught music theory to grade 5. I also play guitar, both classical and chords (strumming and singing songs!) I spent a lot of my youth having piano lessons and reached grade 5 level.

Tutoring Experience: I have had 17 years teaching experience within primary schools teaching all core and foundation subjects and have been co-ordinator of music for most of that time. I enjoy singing and I play in a Concert Band which is really fun! I have also taught clarinet, guitar and theory privately.

Tutoring Approach: Firstly it has to be fun! I love to ask the children what types of music they like and along with the graded exams I like to incorporate some of the childrens favourite music. Normally after a years tuition, if the tutee has practised regularly at home I would enter them for a graded exam which consists of chosen pieces from a list, a study, scales, singing and listening to different types of music and being able to answer questions on this.

Qualifications:

• B.Ed Hons degree in Education and Music/ Clarinet Grade 8 with distinction / Music theory/
• Grade 5 piano/ taught myself how to play guitar! I also dabble in tenor saxophone too!
