Personal Description: I am a tutor based in Edinburgh. I have a First Class Honours Degree from Glasgow University in English Literature and Art History as well as a CELTA qualification in teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have an excellent rapport with both children and adults and thoroughly enjoy teaching.

Teaching Experience: I have worked as a private tutor over the last seven years with excellent results, with a variety of pupils of all ages - primarily at Higher, Intermediate 2 or Advanced Levels. In addition, I have amassed a lot of teaching experience, teaching English Literature Higher at Basil Paterson's College and English as a Foreign Language at the Arch School of English, EAC and Basil Paterson's College.

Teaching Approach: I usually tutor one-to-one. My approach varies depending on the subject and level and the individual pupil's needs but, for academic pupils I tend to work from past paper examination questions, focusing on exam technique and essay writing skills. For English Literature pupils, I look at Close Reading and individual texts in some detail, while in History I focus on source-based questions and the general topics. I have a good familiarity with the syllabus for Scottish Highers, Intermediate 2s, Advanced Highers and 'A' Levels.
