Personal Description: I am a graduate of University College London where I obtained an honours degree in Chemistry with Mathematics. My specialisms are Chemistry and Mathematics as well as Physics up to SQA Higher level. I have experience of working with children, including work experience at BBC Blue Peter where I was required to obtain a CRB check.

Teaching Experience: My teaching experience to date has involved 3 years of tutoring students ranging from 'A' Level to Intermediate 2 Chemistry, Maths and Physics.

Teaching Approach: My approach to tutoring is to encourage the tutee's understanding of a subject and their enjoyment of learning. I have found that the most effective way to encourage a tutee's learning is to explain hard themes in more familiar terms and to incorporate the use of realia. An example of this is the decreasing influence of an atom's nucleus on a bonding pair of electrons in a molecule, going down a row in the periodic table. A illustration of this is achieved by imagining how a magnet's influence on a handfull of paper clips decreases as your place more objects between them. I also find that the best way to achieve high marks in exams is to guide the tutee through past papers.
