Information About Kate

Personal Description: I'm a friendly and approachable woman in her thirties who has been knitting since childhood. I can help with all aspects of knitting:
Beginners Knitting
Such as casting on and off and the basic knit and purl stitches, increasing and decreasing stiches and the basics of reading knitting patterns.
Intermediate Knitting Skills
Skill requireds after you've grasped the basics - how to follow a pattern and more complex stitch sequences such as knitting several stiches into the same stitch, making bobbles.
Advanced Knitting Skills
Use of cable needles and double points needles.

Teaching Experience: I am a qualified teacher of adults after having taken the City & Guilds Adward in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learnig Sector. All teachers in publicly funded teaching institutions must have this qualification before they can teach.

I have taught many friends and family members to knit over the years and have a great deal of patience. In addition, I have taught knitting for a friend's craft teaching business. I no longer teach for her after having moved to London last year, because her business is based in Guernsey in the Channel Islands.

Teaching Approach: I have a very relaxed, tutee led approach to teaching. Knitting is a hobby and should be part of your down time, so I will concentrate on what it is that you would like to learn and we can make things which you would like to make.

If you're a complete beginner, I can provide patterns of small easy knit items to get you started. For absolute beginners, you can use my needles and yarn for the first lesson or two to check that you like it, before buying your own. I'm happy to go shopping with you too, to buy the right needles and yarn for your knitting projects.
