Personal Description: I have always loved and been involved in art and craft pursuits since I was young!! I used to win colouring in competitions when i was little, have taken Fine Arts and Textiles subjects right throughout High School, and now I am halfway through a Bachelor of Design and Visual arts at Unitec, majoring in Painting.
I love landscape painting, but also enjoy and have experience in pottery, sculpture, drawing, design, textiles and art history.
I'm a people person and enjoy teaching and helping others grow their talents and be who they were designed to be

Tutoring Experience: I began tutoring when I was Year 6 at Primary School, I tutored a 6 year old girl in reading and writing. In High School I was also a Reading Tutor to a 4th form student, and was employed as a Private sewing tutor for one term which involved assisting a younger High School student in making her own ball gown.
Currently I am leading a visual arts group at my church, which involves teaching, managing projects, and caring for each members personal and artistic development.

Tutoring Approach: I believe that the best way to learn is through doing what you enjoy and finding the way of doing things that suits you best. With art everyone has such diverse interests that there is no one formula that can be applied to teach art!
My approach would be to gain an understanding of what the student enjoys creating and where they would like to develop, providing feedback, exercises and technique teaching to reach this greater level of development.

Qualifications:

• NCEA Level 1,2 and 3- includes the subjects of Maths, English, Media, Art, Textiles, Biology, Art History.
• Certificate in Applied Christian Ministry 2008- experience gained in leadership, serving, communication skills.
• Bachelor of Design and Visual Arts (Visual Arts)- currently studying and will complete in November 2011
