Personal Description: I am a top mathematics student and an outstanding tutor. I am completing a mathematics degree at Princeton University in the USA, and am currently taking time off to work in Auckland and do some research at Auckland University.
During High school I was one of the top maths students in the country, and twice represented NZ at the International Maths Olympiad (only 6 people are chosen for the NZ team). I was dux of my high school in yr 12, and gained 5 NCEA scholarships. I subsequently gained a full scholarship to Princeton University.
My other interests include psychology, music, and equestrian.

Tutoring Experience: I have been tutoring for the past 5 years, and have helped approx 50 students of all ages and abilities to improve in Maths and Physics. I've also worked as a tutor at Auckland University, and at the Epsom Institute of Education.
I am thoroughly familiar with all exam systems offered in NZ (NCEA, Scholarship, Cambridge, IB), as well as the American SAT exams.

Tutoring Approach: I adjust my approach to individual students' needs, however in general I am a friendly, patient tutor whose aim is to build my students' confidence as well as ability in mathematics.
With my younger students I typically try to make lessons as enjoyable as possible, while with my older students the main focus is on learning the material necessary to achieve well on exams.
My students tell me that I am good at explaining tricky concepts in ways they can understand.

Qualifications:

• I gained NCEA level 4 scholarships in Calculus, Statistic, Physics, Economics, and French
• I was a member of the NZ International Math Olympiad team in 2004 and 2005 (the world's premiere maths competition
• I gained acceptance to Princeton University, where I am completing a degree in Maths
• I gained 800 (a perfect score) on the maths SAT exam
