Personal Description: I'm a young, competent, capable, and confident teacher looking to spread my enthusiasm for learning. I have a flare for infecting students with my passion for life and my dedication to self-construction/& self-realisation. I'm very easy to get along with.

Tutoring Experience: I'm fresh out of University, having just completed my Bachelor of Education Primary & Intermediate (Montessori Speciality) mid last year. I tutored my fellow student-teachers at University for Maths, Science, and Academic Writing throughout my degree. I am currently working as a releiver for a primary school situated at Kumeu (West Auckland). I am the main reliever for the Montessori Unit attached to their school. I also relieve across the different levels, from the new entrant classrooms to intermediate classrooms, at primary and intermediate schools in Auckland.

Tutoring Approach: My approach to teaching is simple. The student comes first. By that I mean, that it's not just about going through the bullet points. It's more about creating and developing a positive relationship between the student and the subject. It's about troubleshooting - figuring out why the student would be in need of my assistance in the first place. It's about understanding the student's learning style and being receptive to it. It's about building on/and refining the student's understandings, competencies, capabilities, and confidence in regards to learning. It's about empowering the student to invest on their own person. It's about awakening the individual's powers of reasoning and creativity - which are more or less the very pillars of ingenuity. All in all, my practice is a service geared towards the fulfilment of the individual's potential.
This is achieved by first demonstrating/presenting the skill/concept to the student. The student is then allowed to explore the concept for themself - both in concrete and abstract form - and directed to a set of follow on tasks that enable them to practice/rehearse the knowledge and skill that they have just acquired. The student is then encouraged to demonstrate and express their understandings back to the teacher (or to a selected audience) in either verbal, written, or visual form and can even be a combination of these three things. This three part teaching and learning sequence of 'This is', 'Show me', 'Tell me' is taken from the Montessori approach to teaching and learning. It is both a generative and reciprocal form of teaching and learning which empowers the student to take an active and conscious role in their studies.
