Personal Description: Hello, I am a motivated and friendly new English ESOL tutor that is interested in meeting you!
I am able to teach from my home during school hours and possibly weekends or travel to students' home and will endeavour to meet your needs and requirements to achieve excellence in English language working on problem areas once assessed.
I am patient and have your best interests at heart. I have often had Japanese homestay students living with my children and I and provide a safe, happy study environment.
Tutoring Experience: I have experience tutoring Iraqi students at Lynfield College when I was a student there in 1992. I achieved my Kiwihost certificate in 1994. In 1995 I studied tourism at Unitec, Pt Chev and passed my certificatewith a 97% merit pass in Japanese language.
I then went on to accumulate job experience in hotels from 1994-1996.
I worked in retail customer service from 1996-2000. This includes working for a high security Auckland jewellery business "About Time Ltd" from 1998-2000.
Before having children I worked for Rolex watch service in Auckland City, front desk.
I have been studying to teach ESOL for the past ten months and have passed with certificate through Practical Education Institute.
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is to provide a relaxed and friendly environment for the student to study and learn in or alternatively I am willing to travel to the students home. I will discuss individual requirements and form a lesson plan and goals with the student carefully.
I will cover any weak language areas slowly and with patience.
My lessons will be varied and exciting using many stimulus.(DVD, tape recording, posters etc)
I will provide logical flow-on lessons to build student confidence and monitor progress watchfully.
